Abhijnana Shakuntala
This version of Shakuntala depicts a selected part of the play. It is an attempt to fully absorb the essence of one panorama. That is the joy and perplexity of the adolescent feelings of Shakuntala just before she meets and falls in love with King Dushyantha. The love exemplified by the poet Kalidasa, had the charm and enchantment of the flowers of the spring, the fruits of Autumn and the serenity of the Ganga. She personifies the flawless gaze of the doe on the banks of the Malini; her very proximity was bliss full even to the little herbs and shrubs, animals and birds of the hermitage.
The attempt in this production is to use poetry, literary quality and dramatic elements of this monumental work with a dancers imaginative approach.
