MANAS began as a personal artistic initiative to Yamini mainly due to her attempts to be close in spirit to the "MIND", which resulted in this production. The source of inspiration for this Choreography are the "Slokas" hymns, which have been selected from the verses of the ancient texts like the Bhagavat Gita, the Upanishads and the Vedas. Yamini has always felt awe-struck with the magnificence, power, beauty and the universality of these sacred hymns. The Slokas selected articulate the various forms of the "Supreme Guru."
In this Choreography, visions and movements play a crucial role. With the help of Karnas, Yoga Asanas and appropriate music (Indian classical ragas) and recitation, an genuine attempt has been made to delineate the essence of the subject. Jathis "Rhythmic sequences" and soulful recitation of the Slokas and Mantras along with beautiful dance movements (essentially Bharatnatyam), creates this Symphony called Manas.
